Now in its 16th year, the Symphonic Jazz Orchestra’s (SJO) “Music in the Schools” residencies serve nearly 5,000 elementary students each week in yearlong residencies in Watts, Compton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Lennox and Culver City. The program offers a variety of unique music residencies for TK-5th grade students.
Our teaching artists are freelance musicians and musical theater artists that are experienced and engaging educators. Preference is given to those teaching artists with classroom experience and/or work with elementary aged students.
