Extended to Friday- Don’t miss your chance to meet Billy Childs!

Make a donation to the SJO by May 7, 2021 and you could win a 30-minute virtual one-on-one session with GRAMMY award winning jazz pianist and composer Billy Childs. We’re thrilled to announce that Billy Childs is donating two lessons to the SJO community. One lesson will be gifted to an elementary school student from one of our partner schools and the other lesson could be gifted to…YOU!

  1. Every donation of $32 or more, which underwrites one music student for an entire year, will receive a free SJO kid’s tee-shirt. Donations in any amount support our “Music in the Schools” residency program across L.A. County.

  2. Every donation dollar is another chance to win! No purchase is necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Please read the rules and regulations below.

Jazz pianist/composer Billy Childs is one of the most diversely prolific and acclaimed artists working in music today. Childs’ canon of original compositions and arrangements has garnered him the 2013 Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship (2009), 16 Grammy nominations, and five Grammy awards, most recently for Best Jazz Instrumental Album (Rebirth). Previously he won for Best Arrangement, Instrumental & Vocal in 2015 for “New York Tendaberry” (featuring Renée Fleming and Yo-Yo Ma), from his highly successful release Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Other Grammy wins include Best Instrumental Composition for “The Path Among the Trees” (2011) and “Into the Light” (2005), from his much-heralded jazz/chamber releases, Autumn: In Moving Pictures and Lyric. Downbeat magazine states, “Childs’ jazz/chamber group has taken the jazz-meets classical format to a new summit.”
